I. SCENE OVERVIEW

In the night, the alarm was blaring. All the people left the building. When all the people stood outside the hotel, Bob and charlotte met each other. Bob went to Charlotte, and they talked about their worst lunch. And then, Charlotte asked Bob about when he will leave. He told her tomorrow. Charlotte looks a little sad and both of them acted relaxed to each other. It is time they will say goodbye.
The scene in which we will explore is that the hearts of Bob and Charlotte and the emotional communication between them.

II. SHOT ANALYSIS
Shot 1
Duration:
23 Seconds. From 1:26:18 to 1:26:40.

Shot Size: This is a medium shot at the beginning. When the character Bob moved, it is a long shot.

Sound: The sound in this shot is mostly the hotel’s alarm. And a woman’s voice on broadcast: “To your nearest exit and leave the building. Wait instructions from the authorities.” And then, she repeated once use Japanese. Finally, it is stop.

Lighting: Because it is night, so the lighting in this shot is artificial light. Light is the main source from different parts of different building.

Color Usage: In the night, the color is a little gray. It is like their mood, is not good. Feel a little dispirited.

Camera Movement: at the beginning, the camera looked at Bob, and then turned to Charlotte. Finally camera zoom out, focus on both of them.

Camera Angle: The angle of the camera is over the shoulder.

Character relationships: You can see Bob and Charlotte both in this shot. Now, they are friends but more than friends. Something happened. Their relationship is ambiguous. They are two Americans who warm each other in foreign country.
Because Charlotte heard a woman’s voice from Bob’s room this morning. And then, they had a worst lunch together. So now they are not happy. But they still want stay with each other.

Character Movement: The Bob’s movement within this shot is he looked around. After he found Charlotte, he walked to her. And Charlotte has been watching him.


Shot 2
Duration: 39 Seconds. From 1:26:41 to 1:27:20.

Shot Size: This is a close-up shot. But there is an extreme close-up shot focus on Charlotte’s feet at the end. Only 1 second long.

Sound: In this shot the alarm stopped. There is a voice from the people around. They are talking.

Lighting: Because it is night, so the lighting in this shot is artificial light. Light is the main source from hotel and different parts of different buildings.

Color Usage:
In the night, the color is a little gray. It is like their mood, is not good. It is time they will say goodbye.

Dialogue: Bob and Charlotte are talking in this shot.

Camera Movement: The camera changed between Bob and Charlotte. Finally camera focus on Charlotte’s feet for 1 second.

Camera Angle: The angle of the camera is over the shoulder. When turned to Charlotte’s feet, it is high angle.
