Scene Analysis

3244 - Ronald A Toenroe

13 August 2010

Memento

Christopher Nolan

Scene: 34:10 - 35:44 (1 Minutes 34 Seconds)

I. Overview

Memento was produced in year 2000 by Christopher Nolan. The movie is about the person who has short-term memory loss that trying to find the murder of his wife. The characters in this movie are Leonard, Natalie, John G., Teddy, his wife, and Dodd. Leonard has a condition of short-term memory loss that he had from his wife murder incident. He can only remember about himself and his life until the incident. He has hard-time to remember prior the incident. The only thing that can help him to remember is by taking picture from his Polaroid camera. Whenever he has important person or location that he knows at the moment, he always takes a picture of that person or location and writes notes to help himself to remember the person and location. He also tattoos himself for any important information that he got from his finding.

In this movie, Leonard tries to find his wife killer and revenge his anger to that person. Along the way, he got help from other persons that he apparently knew to find the killer. In this movie, the main actor is trying to have memento to remind him for certain incident that already happen and help him to gather all the information that he got.

In this scene analysis, I would choose scene 34:10 - 35:44 for me to analyse. At this scene, Leonard is staying in Natalie's house and it takes stage in her bedroom, where Leonard describes his feeling and thought about his condition.
