This film named "Kekexili" was directed by a young director Lu Chuan.This Chinese mainland film has won best picture and best cinematography awards of the Golden Horse Film Awards in Taiwan.His film has been invited for screening at the on-going 17th Tokyo International Film Festival.The film is realistic,and somewhat shocking.Kekexili means beautiful girl in the Mongolian language.It lies in the border areas of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.The weather there is quite harsh!The film depicted the life-and-death struggle between poachers and the volunteers,who organized themselves into a patrol team trying to protect the wild animals, especially the Tibetan antelopes.During that time two patrol captains died and a patrol member was swallowed by the quicksand.It is really cruel!The team patrolled Kekexili for three years without any support from thelocal government .They had to raise money themselves to buy guns,bullets,and cars to fight poachers equipped with machine guns.The film showed the audience what really happened there.We should protect the wild animals and arrest poachers.If we don't the antelopes will completely extinct in a few years later.
